Marcos and the Saudi foreign minister affirm PH-Saudi ties.
Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, the Saudi Arabian minister of foreign affairs, paid President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. a visit on Thursday at Malacanang Palace.
A brief video of the encounter between Marcos and Prince Faisal was posted on the official Facebook page of the government-run Radio Television Malacanang (RTVM).
The video shows Prince Faisal also penned a guest book at the Malacanang Palace.
The Palace has not yet provided information regarding their encounter.
On its Twitter account, the Saudi Embassy in the Philippines also posted images of the meeting between Marcos and Prince Faisal.
The Saudi Foreign Minister wished Marcos “continued success” on behalf of King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia.
According to the embassy, “at the reception, they discussed the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries based on cordiality, friendliness, and cooperation in various domains.”
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo, and Presidential Management Staff Secretary Ma. Zenaida Angping participated in the courtesy call with the President.
Before meeting Enrique Manalo, secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), and Marcos, Prince Faisal landed in Manila on Wednesday evening.
According to the DFA, Prince Faisal reaffirmed Riyadh’s dedication to expanding its partnership with the Philippines.
The top diplomats met with Manalo to discuss the “potential to further economic collaboration” in support of Riyadh and Manila’s development objectives.
The DFA reported that various potential areas of collaboration to bolster bilateral ties were explored by the two officials.
According to the DFA, “Secretary Manalo expressed his appreciation for the Foreign Minister’s visit. He said that multiple high-level visits and active engagement in various sectors can attest to the depth of Philippine-Kingdom of Saudi Arabia bilateral relations.”
For his part, Prince Faisal stated that the Kingdom is prepared to continue collaborating with the Philippines on matters of shared interest.

According to the DFA, the Philippines and Saudi Arabia established their diplomatic ties in October 1969.
As its first resident ambassador to Saudi Arabia, the Republic of the Philippines named Ambassador Liningding Pangandaman in 1973.
Ranil Wickremesinghe, the president of Sri Lanka, also made Marcos a courtesy visit earlier that day in the Malacanang Palace.
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and Related Summits, as well as the potential establishment of a monitoring and regulatory organization in charge of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, were topics that Marcos claimed he discussed with Wickremesinghe (RCEP).
This November, the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits and Related Summits will occur.
With its uniform terms and conditions between ASEAN member states Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam and their FTA partners China, Japan, India, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand, RCEP is the largest free trade agreement (FTA) in the world.
