The electrical audit of Terminal 3 at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) was launched on Friday by the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) and power supplier Manila Electric Co. (Meralco).

Officer in Charge of MIAA According to Bryan Co, the audit should be finished in three weeks.

Co continued by saying that after the audit, the MIAA will be able to identify the numerous pieces of equipment that need to be improved, repaired, or bought to make NAIA Terminal 3’s power supply dependable and resilient.

The MIAA will then establish the schedule and necessary funding for the purchase of crucial electrical facility components, generator sets, and the implementation of the required power system upgrade at Terminal 3.

In a news release, Co said that “yes, kailangan naming bumili or mag lease ng (we need to buy or lease of) additional generators and that’s the time na made determine kung magkano ang kailangang budget (we will be able to determine how the budget).”

The MIAA is immediately considering renting generator sets to expand the capacity of Terminal 3’s backup power.

The audit is anticipated to help MIAA guarantee the consistency of its power supply and identify the most important parts for the system improvement of its current electrical facilities.

Several flights were impacted on Monday by an electrical outage at NAIA Terminal 3.
