Better goods promote growth in the face of a pandemic, according to the DTI
The Western Visayas Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will gather the best products from various municipalities and cities in the region for its Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Week Trade Fair, which will be held from Oct. 13 to 17 at the Outdoor Atrium of Festive Mall in Mandurriao district here.
Rebecca M. Rascon, DTI Western Visayas Regional Director, said on October 12, 2021, that support to MSMEs would continue despite the danger of the pandemic.
“DTI continues to meet the challenges of assisting micro, small, and medium-sized businesses in developing new and better offerings with significant improvement and innovation in the areas of quality, product development, design, packaging, standards compliance, marketability, production capability, and brand development, among others,” she said in an interview.
During the week-long trade exhibition, 58 (One Town, One Product Entrepreneurs (OTOPreneurs) will display their goods from processed foods, handicrafts, and other non-food products.
They are made up of 13 exhibitors from Aklan, 11 from Antique, four from Capiz, nine from Guimaras and Iloilo, and 12 from Negros Occidentales.
Hablon weaving, pia, and other fibers, delicious cuisine and delights, handmade domestic crafts of fibers, bamboo, vines, abaca, and other local raw materials are on exhibit.
“We must not be consumed by this epidemic.” Instead, let us explore additional ideas to tackle these challenges and come up with better ways in providing support to our MSMEs, as well as find other possibilities brought about by this epidemic,” she said.
The subject of this year’s show is “Makabagong MSMEs, Bagong Pag-asa Laban sa Pandemya.”
The trade fair also coincides with the celebration of Consumer Welfare Month in collaboration with Megaworld Lifestyle Malls Weekly Community Fair, an initiative that assists MSMEs throughout the country.
