The country will enter a “new normal” once Alert Level 1 is issued, according to the Department of Health (DOH).

While the public should expect fewer limitations in this category, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire emphasized that the minimum public health norms, such as mask use and physical separation, would remain in effect.

“We will gradually adapt to our new normal in the next weeks and months if magtuloy-tuloy ang pagbaba ng kaso natin (if our cases continue to decline),” she said in a Laging Handa briefing.

“When a level 1 alert is issued, ‘yon iyong pamantayan,’ which is our protocol— na ‘yong limits talaga for businesses and even public transportation, which is mawawala po ‘yan. Ang sinasabi natin ay alert level 1 is truly our new normal (Once we’re in alert level 1, that’ll be the standard, it’ll be our procedure that the restrictions for businesses and even public transportation will be lifted.) Although no exact date has been set for a declaration, the official stated that the government has been preparing for this possibility.

She stated that the country must first maintain its current trend of “minimum to low danger” and a daily attack rate of less than seven in each region.

The healthcare utilization rate must likewise be below, with vaccine coverage of more than 70% among targeted populations in all regions.

Both public and private spaces must be able to adhere to government-issued safety guidelines.

“The government is currently preparing, hindi lang para sa komunidad kundi para sa pangkalahatan, pati establishments we are preparing para maging safe spaces sila sa ating mga kababayan,” stated Vergeire.

The majority of the regions are still on Alert Level 3 or 2.

Until February 15, Metro Manila is on Level 2 alert.
