MANILA, Philippines — Dr. Ted Herbosa, medical adviser for the National Task Force (NTF) Against Covid-19, said Wednesday that pushing an incentive-based vaccination program “is a solid strategy” for encouraging more individuals to get the coronavirus illness 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines.

Remember when we were in alert level 3, we required vaccination in public transportation in public transportations, many people got vaccinated at that time. So it’s a good thing because we can incentivize our countrymen to get their vaccines), Herbosa said at the Laging Handa briefing.

More than 65.6 million Filipinos have gotten both primary series of Covid-19 vaccinations, including those who received single-dose Janssen and Sputnik Light vaccines, with 11.68 million receiving booster shots, according to Herbosa.

“If you look at the immunization rate, we’ve reached 74 percent of the targeted population,” he stated.

According to Herbosa, 75% of senior citizens are also fully immunized.

“So, sana tuluy-tuloy nating maabot iyong ina-attain natin [na] nearly 80% na mabakunahan para lalong makapagpaluwag pa tayo ng iba’t ibang limits sa Covid-19,” he said.

Herbosa also encouraged local government units to arrange a special immunization day, particularly in areas where vaccine coverage is currently lacking.
