The National Museum will host Marcos’ inauguration.

The presidential campaign of Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has chosen the National Museum of the Philippines in Manila as the site of his June 30 inauguration as the country’s 17th president.

According to Presidential Management Staff (PMS) secretary-designate Zenaida “Naida” Angping, the National Museum was judged to be “appropriate” for Marcos’ oath-taking after being reviewed by his inauguration committee.

Angping stated that efforts are being made to ensure Marcos’ inauguration goes off without a hitch.

“The building and surrounding regions of the National Museum of the Philippines meet our standards for President-elect Marcos’ inauguration. To assure that it will be ready by then, preparations are already in full swing “she stated in a press release.

Former presidents Manuel L. Quezon (1935), Jose P. Laurel (1943), and Manuel Roxas were all inaugurated at the National Museum, formerly known as the Old Legislative Building (1946).

It is one of three historical places that the Marcos campaign had previously evaluated as possible inaugural venues.

The Quirino Grandstand and Fort Santiago were the other two.

The late president Ferdinand Marcos Sr., Marcos’ father, and namesake, was sworn in as the country’s 10th president in the Quirino Grandstand in 1965.

The Quirino Grandstand was not chosen as the site for Marcos’ inauguration, according to Angping, since the ocular inspection team noted that it was bordered by multiple field hospitals housing people ill with the coronavirus disease 2019. (Covid-19).

“Our people’s safety and well-being are vital. As a result, we chose to avoid interfering with the medical treatment of the Covid-19 patients who were housed there. That is why the National Museum was chosen as the venue “she continued.

After winning the 2022 national elections by a landslide 31,629,783 votes, or more than 16 million votes ahead of the nearest competitor, Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo, Marcos was recognized as the country’s next president by Congress on May 25.
