On Saturday, Russia’s Defense Ministry announced that the Lyman city in eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk area had been fully taken over by Russian soldiers.

The ministry’s spokesman, Igor Konashenkov, told a press conference in Moscow’s capital that Russian and Russian-backed forces in the Donetsk area have taken full control of the city.

He further claimed that high-precision missiles fired from the air hit a Ukrainian military position in Bakhmut and a regional defense unit command center in Soledar.

“The Russian airstrikes neutralized more than 260 nationalist forces,” Konashenkov claimed.

According to him, a Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopter was shot down by the Russian air defense system near the Orikhiv hamlet in the Zaporizhzhia area.

According to Konashenkov, Russian air forces also shot down 18 Ukrainian drones in various areas around the Mykolaiv, Luhansk, and Kharkiv provinces.

According to him, Russian forces have destroyed 182 aircraft, 128 helicopters, 1,045 unmanned aerial vehicles, 324 air defense missile systems, 3,297 tanks and armored vehicles, 444 multi-barrel rocket launchers, 1,714 howitzers and mortars, as well as 3,245 Ukrainian army special combat vehicles.

According to UN estimates, at least 4,031 people have been killed and 4,735 injured in Ukraine since Russia’s attack on its neighbor began on February 24. The genuine price tag is thought to be significantly higher.

According to the UN refugee agency, more than 6.7 million people have fled to neighboring countries, while more than 7.7 million have been internally displaced.
