It’s not as simple as it may seem to name a Cabinet officer.

The Cabinet secretary must have President Ferdinand R. Marcos’ trust, confidence, and capacity to oversee a department.

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go claimed that the Department of Health (DOH) is in excellent hands under the leadership of Undersecretary Ma. Rosario Vergeire, the department’s officer-in-charge (OIC).

Go committed to backing Vergeire and the DOH even if President Marcos chooses to nominate a new DOH secretary.

When the country emerges from the Covid-19 emergency and has reopened all enterprises, Marcos promised in a prior interview to select a permanent DOH secretary.
