For the Undas, more than 650 police and force multipliers will be deployed.

The Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) announced Friday that more than 650 police officers and force multipliers are prepared to be deployed to public and private cemeteries as well as other convergence places in the city from October 29 to November 2 in observance of the Undas holiday.

According to Col. Domingo Gambican, director of operations for the BCPO, “their role will be to assist in the maintenance of traffic and provide police assistance to enable the safe and orderly observance of the All Saints (Day) and All Souls’ Day, which is a long weekend.”

According to the BCPO’s Oplan Undas, 317 police officers would be assigned to cemeteries, tourist hotspots, bus terminals, malls, and the public market, along with 349 force multipliers.

Throughout the long weekend, there will also be medical personnel and emergency volunteers stationed at the graves.

To prevent additional congestion, particularly in light of multiple existing road construction projects, Gambican declared that there would be no traffic rerouting.

However, police will be sent to help with traffic direction and to enforce the “drop-and-go” rule along the entranceways to the various private and public cemeteries.

To ensure adequate crowd control and reduce traffic, the city government has ordered the closure of cemeteries in the city on November 1. They have also established a schedule of visits by district encompassing the 128 barangays.

For the visitation schedule, some private cemeteries are using the first letter of the deceased’s family name.

In addition, from October 27 to October 31, the city administration approved the use of Malcolm Square, or the People’s Park as a designated location for the sale of candles, cut flowers, potted flowers, and other items required for floral arrangements.

Due to the limited space and the location of the wholesale drop-off spot at the former municipal library area, only 72 slots are permitted.

The Maharlika and Marbay buildings’ sides, as well as the back of the Rillera Building close to the vegetable market, have all been designated as flower sections at the city market.
