Envoy: media are essential in the constantly changing relations between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.

According to Hjayceelyn Quintana, Philippine ambassador to the UAE, the government-run Philippine News Agency’s (PNA) attendance at this year’s first Global Media Congress (GMC) underlines the significance of the media sectors in the Philippines and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

In a statement, Quintana said, “I am glad to have the Philippine News Agency (PNA) participating in this week’s Global Media Congress (GMC) in the UAE since media is essential in the constantly changing relationship between the Philippines and the UAE.

The ambassador, who paid a visit to the PNA booth at the GMC on the first day of the event, stated that the two countries’ deep relationship, which was established 48 years ago and is based on the significant presence of Filipinos in the Middle Eastern country, has continued to thrive.

Quintana estimates that 1 million Filipinos reside and work in the UAE, making them the third largest immigrant group after those from Pakistan and India.

“Our collaboration is growing and now includes new sectors including the information and digital economy, renewable energy, and media.

The presence of PNA at this groundbreaking GMC, in light of my encounters with WAM, emphasizes the significance of media in our respective nations and the necessity for countries to share best practices to improve communication with our various constituents, she said.

PNA’s involvement in the GMC strengthens the agency’s intention to connect with abroad Filipinos living and working throughout the Gulf, not just in the UAE.

Additionally, it creates possibilities for new news collaboration and sharing with other agencies.

A memorandum of understanding (MOU) between PNA and WAM was signed in Dubai in February 2019 with the intention of fostering professional ties and collaboration in the area of news exchange.

The MOU was the first between PNA and an Arab news agency, and it was inked on the sidelines of the 2019 World Government Summit.

According to Quintana, “The GMC is the most recent illustration of how the UAE leadership continues to reach out to the world to give a forum for nations to collaborate on coming up with fresh solutions to address global issues and concerns.”

Quintana spoke with Mohammad Jalal Al Rayssi, Director-General of WAM, outside the event, and thanked him for the success of the gathering.

The Italian Agenzia Nazionale Stampa Associate (ANSA) and Arabsat, one of the world’s leading satellite operators for family-friendly media programming, were among the organizations that stopped by the PNA exhibit.
