
Food costs in Butuan remain constant as Christmas approaches.
The Department of Agriculture in the Caraga Region (DA-13) announced Thursday that there have been no significant price changes for farm-related food items in this city for the holiday season.
The Mayor Salvador Calo Public Market was the site of the monitoring action, according to a statement released by DA-13 on Thursday.
Prices for imported rice in the Calo market changed just a little, with the regular-milled kind seeing an increase of PHP1 from PHP44 per kg.
On the other hand, the price of imported well-milled rice decreased by PHP1 from PHP44 per kilo.
Additionally, there have been no changes to the PHP45 and PHP38 per kilo pricing for local well-milled and regular-milled commercial rice in the same market this week.
Pork chop prices rose this week by PHP20, or from PHP300 to PHP320 per kilo, along with the PHP10 rise in pig ribs and pork pata. These increases were noted for meat products.
Pork ham decreased this week by PHP10, or from PHP330 per kilo to PHP320, while pork belly remained at PHP360 per kilo.
According to the monitoring, there have been no price adjustments for whole-dressed chicken, which is still available for PHP210 per kilogram.
Carrots, beans, and chayote, among other vegetables, continue to cost PHP100 and PHP40 per kilo, respectively.
White potato costs dropped from PHP180 to PHP160 and pechay costs dropped from PHP80 to PHP75 per kilo.
Ampalaya, eggplant, tomatoes, and sweet pepper prices all saw price rises between PHP10 and PHP15.
Squash and cucumber prices, on the other hand, saw drops of up to PHP15 each.
According to the monitoring, there have been no significant changes in the cost of fruits in the Calo market.
