Christmas’ “real essence” is love, PBBM reminds Filipinos.
In the midst of preparations for the busiest time of the year, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. urged Filipinos on Sunday to keep in mind the “real core” of Christmas.
Marcos reminded Filipinos in his Christmas message that the season is meant to commemorate the birth of Christ.
“The account of Christ’s birth has shaped our culture, and we’ve grown accustomed to celebrating this day with gatherings, thanksgiving, and joy every year. It is crucial that we emphasize the genuine meaning of this holidayโloveโregardless of how its celebration has changed through time, he remarked.
Christmas, according to Marcos, “becomes more than merely a Christian ritual” because of the celebration of love.
All charity and goodwill during this season, he continued, are welcomed regardless of one’s religious views.
Embracing these traits, according to Marcos, will enable everyone to “overcome the hardships brought on by the pandemic and other hurdles.”
“Let our souls not be troubled by the adornments we wear, the commotion and activity we spark, or their absence. Instead, let’s celebrate this occasion with the same ease, logic, and significance that it provides for us, he remarked.
Additionally, Marcos advised Filipinos to be kind to others by smiling, conversing, or sharing advice with them.
In order for the timeless message of the Nativity of Christ to once more ignite hope for a better future in everyone’s hearts, he urged them to “let our affection be known and felt in the simplest of ways.”
He said, “I wish everyone a Christmas full of love, kindness, and hopeful beginnings.”
improved future
Marcos hoped that Filipinos would recall the genuine meaning of Christmas and that it would also deepen their trust in God.
“On the occasion of Pasko, I declare that we should all put an end to the tunay and banal that are the hallmarks of Kristo’s kapanganakan. This Christmas, as we remember the calm and holy night of Christ’s birth, I pray that we discover the actual significance of his birth. Nawa’y maging daan ito upang higit tayong manalig sa Poong Maykapal. In another video message, he prayed that this would help people to have greater faith in God.
Marcos was likewise optimistic about the future of the nation and its citizens.
“I also pray that the promise of a comfortable and bright future will provide hope to every Filipino,” he continued. “Dalangin ko rin po na ang pangako ng isang maginhawa at magandang kinabukasan ay makapagbigay ng pag-asa sa bawat Pilipino.”
Marcos reiterated his appeal for unification, claiming that cooperation was the only way the country and its citizens could prosper.
“Matutupad natin ang pangakong ito, manalig po tayo sa ating pagtutulungan. We should have faith that, with everyone’s help, we will keep this promise. “Higit sa lahat, buksan natin ang ating mga puso sa diwa ng pagkakaisa.” Let’s open our hearts to the spirit of oneness above everything else,” he urged.
Marcos had high hopes that Filipinos would be motivated by Christmas to contribute to national advancement.
“May the happiness and joy of this Christmas be the source of strength so that we can continue to work for the good of our beloved country, the Philippines,” he added. “Nawa’y ang ligaya at saya nitong Pasko ang siyang maging bukal ng lakas upang patuloy tayong magsikap para sa ikabubuti ng ating minamahal na bansang Pilipinas
taking care of each other
Meanwhile, Jose Faustino Jr., senior undersecretary and officer-in-charge of the Department of National Defense (DND), commended the nation’s soldiers for their efforts throughout the holidays to keep the nation and its citizens safe.
As the rest of the world celebrates, he said, “I express my deepest thanks to our courageous and selfless warriors, particularly those who serve in the most remote regions of our archipelagic nation, away from their families.”
“Despite the dangers to their lives, they continue to defend our nation and its citizens from those who would undermine the democratic way of life practiced by the Filipinos. Our ability to create a more secure and peaceful future will eventually be made possible by their sacrifice and dedication to their jobs, he continued.
Faustino expressed his “ardent prayer” that the Holy Family’s energy and grace would continue to lead people throughout this holiday season and beyond.
Let’s take care of one another and cooperate to make our beautiful country better, he urged.
As “a blessing” and “a chance to celebrate our achievements, take stock of our struggles, strengthen our faith, and cast a light on those in need,” Faustino called the Christmas season.
