In order to prepare for the Monday commemoration of the Feast of the Black Nazarene, believers have been receiving medical aid from the Philippine Red Cross (PRC), which has been participating in preliminary events, such as the “Walk of Faith.”

101 devotees had their blood pressure checked and monitored as of 9 a.m. Sunday thanks to the PRC’s first aid stations, medical staff, and volunteers.

21 devotees with minor injuries, including abrasions, chest pain, abdominal pain, and concussions, received first aid care from PRC medical staff, according to a news release from the PRC, while one unconscious patient was taken by PRC ambulance to Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical for additional medical evaluation.

“For the Nazareno deputies, patuloy ang pag-alalay ng ating mga volunteers, first responders, at medical team. (Our volunteers, first responders, and medical staff continue to provide assistance to our Nazarene devotees.) Bukas ang ating Emergency Medical Unit na magsisilbing ospital para sa mga debotong may minor o severe injuries at mangangailangan ng medical assistance. For devotees who have suffered minor or significant injuries or who require medical attention, our Emergency Medical Unit is open “Richard J. Gordon, the chairman, and CEO of PRC, remarked.

Between January 7 and January 9, in addition to 280 volunteers, two doctors, and five medical teams, the PRC also sent out 15 ambulances, one fire vehicle, and 17-foot patrollers.

At the Quirino Grandstand, the Kartilya ng Katipunan, and the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene, there were four first aid stations set up.

At the Kartilya ng Katipunan, a single Emergency Medical Unit (EMU) with 20 beds, the most fundamental medical tools, equipment, and supplies were set up.
