More than 1,800 Ilocos Region police officers received promotions
The Ilocos Police Regional Office (PRO-1) in San Fernando City, La Union, witnessed the swearing-in of at least 1,897 police personnel who have received promotions in the region.
Brig. Gen. John Chua, director of PRO-1, who also administered the newly promoted officers’ oath, reminded them in his speech that promotion does not imply increased authority, but rather increased responsibilities and contributions to the Philippine National Police (PNP) organization.
“Ating ranggo is habang tumataas; this is the pagtaas of ating tungkulin. In light of this, it is possible for you to gain more weight, lose more weight, and be more physically active on your tungkulin. Those who are in the serbisyo at the moment are “magsilbi sanang gabay sa ating mga kapwa pulis,” In other words, we should set a positive example for others around us since we have more responsibility as our ranks rise. We should therefore use caution in both our actions and words, and we should persist in carrying out our obligations. We should serve as an example for our fellow police officers because we have been in the service longer, he remarked.
206 Police Commissioned Officers (PCOs) and 1,691 Police Non-Commissioned Officers (PNCOs), according to Chua, are among the promoted employees. They are employed by the regional headquarters, police provincial offices, and city and municipal police units, as well as the personnel who are part of mobile forces.
Nine PCOs, 182 PCOs, and 15 PCOs received promotions to police major, police captain, and police lieutenant, respectively. Eight PNCOs, 70 police chief master sergeants, 129 police senior master sergeants, 239 police master sergeants, 637 police staff sergeants, and 608 police corporals were promoted, he said.
Chua stated that one of the organization’s priorities is the promotion of staff members as a means of honoring the sacrifices, successes, and merit the staff has shown in the police service in the struggle against crime, lawlessness, and illegal narcotics.
A day after third-level officials in the Ilocos Region submitted their polite resignations in response to last week’s request from Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr., a mass swearing-in ceremony for police officers was held.
