The Social Security System will now provide coverage to at least 194 job order (JO) and contractual employees of the Department of Labor and Employment in Bicol (DOLE-5)

According to Jeanette Mapa, SSS spokesperson, Legazpi’s coverage will fall under the KaltaSSS-Collect Program, which was made possible by a memorandum of arrangement (MOA) signed by the two organizations on Monday.

“The KaltaSSS-Collect Program offers an automatic salary-deduction scheme of the monthly SSS contribution of the covered JOs and contractual workers who will be registered as self-employed SSS members, while their respective employers, such as national government agencies, state colleges, and universities, local water districts, and LGUs (local government units), will be responsible (for) remitting their monthly contributions to SSS through a salary deduction sch

The JO and contractual workers, according to her, can now take advantage of social security benefits such as illness, maternity, disability, unemployment, death, and burial payments.

According to Mapa, “They may also take use of loan advantages, such as salary, calamity, educational loan support, and housing, among others.”

Additionally, she stated that regular DOLE-5 employees who are already SSS members due to prior employment in the private or independent sectors may continue to make their contributions.

The SSS will provide help for the payment of the regular members’ chosen monthly SSS contributions if they pay their contributions as voluntary members, she said.

In addition to the KaltaSSS-collect program, the agency will give regular, JO, and contract of service (COS) employees of DOLE-5 free seminars and information-dissemination activities on the advantages, loan privileges, and other SSS services.
