The shear line and the northeast monsoon, or “amihan,” will continue to bring rain showers over a significant portion of the nation, the meteorological bureau predicted on Wednesday.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) stated in its 4 a.m. report that sporadic thunderstorms and rain showers caused by the shear line will predominate over Eastern Visayas and Caraga.

The Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, and the Bicol Region will all see rain as a result of the northeast monsoon.

PAGASA warned that moderate to heavy rainfall could cause landslides or flash floods in certain areas.

Over the remaining portions of Luzon and the Visayas, the northeast monsoon will also bring mild showers.

The remainder of Mindanao will have sporadic rain showers brought on by nearby thunderstorms.

The northern and eastern parts of Luzon, as well as the eastern Visayas and Mindanao, will experience moderate to strong winds and rough to very rough waves.

The northern and eastern coasts of Luzon, as well as the eastern coasts of the Visayas and Mindanao, are expected to experience moderate to rough seas.

It is cautioned against launching fishing boats and other small seacraft, and larger seacrafts are warned against strong waves.

PAGASA predicted light to moderate winds and modest to moderate seas elsewhere.
