
Calabarzon tops the list of voter registration applications for the 2023 BSKE: Comelec
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) reported on Tuesday that Region 4-A (Calabarzon) has the greatest number of voter applications for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) this year.
The polling organization cited its most recent figures to claim that 375,453 voter applications—out of a total of 2,497,339—came from the area during the registration period that ran from December 12, 2022, to January 31, this year.
1,264,278 of the total are female and 1,233,061 are male.
With 350,101 applications submitted, the National Capital Region came in second place overall.
The figures in other regions are as follows:
— Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), 34,188;
— Ilocos Region, 127, 507;
— Cagayan Valley, 82,997;
— Central Luzon, 277,680;
— Mimaropa, 69,056;
— Bicol, 130,089;
— Western Visayas, 136,759;
— Central Visayas, 175,854;
— Eastern Visayas, 104,451;
— Zamboanga Peninsula; 83,246;
— Northern Mindanao, 114,649;
— Davao Region, 131,164;
— Soccsksargen, 130,560;
— Caraga, 64,076;
— Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, 109,509
673,766 new registrations are between the ages of 15 and 17; 660,087 are between the ages of 18 and 30; and 142,658 are between the ages of 31 and over.
The voting age limit for Filipinos is 15 to 17 years old for the SK polls, 18 to 30 years old for the village and youth polls, and 31 years and older for the barangay and national ballots.
Among the SK applicants, 5,121 requested transfers from other cities or municipalities, while 2,841 requested transfers within the same city or municipality.
567,811 applicants for ordinary voters requested a transfer from another city or municipality, while 154,081 requested a move within the same city or municipality.
In addition, 25,382 applicants for reactivation with entry correction outnumbered the 95,006 applicants for reactivation.
The Comelec also stated that they received 28,811 requests for transfers with correction of entries, 7,533 requests for transfers with reactivation and correction of entries, and 22,613 requests for transfers with reactivation.
A total of 102,556 people applied for name changes or entry corrections, 126 for record inclusion in the voter book, and 44 for name reinstatement in the voter list.
There have been 9,831 requests to transfer from being an overseas voter.
The Election Registration Boards must approve the applications.
