Dewatering work is being done on Makati City’s principal line along Osmena Highway and Zobel Roxas Street by Maynilad Water Services, Ltd. (Maynilad).

In order to stop all lateral pipelines and guarantee that no additional water would enter the primary line while repairing the break, Maynilad completed a pipe inspection on the 2,200-millimeter-diameter primary line from Zobel Roxas to Edsa on Sunday night.

In a statement, Maynilad stated that once all water has been removed, pipe cutting would start in order to access the main line and evaluate the damage from within the pipeline.

The damage will then be repaired by “patch welding” by the machine.

The level of the damage will determine how long the welding work takes, it was said.

The impacted areas in sections of Manila, Makati, Pasay, and Paranaque have nine stationary water tanks as well as nine mobile water tankers installed.

Maynilad had previously stated that the big leak repair would result in 20-hour to 57-hour water supply interruptions from March 5 at 3 p.m. to March 7 at 11:59 p.m.

There will be an impact on 114,000 service connections.
