As Filipino Muslims observe the holy month of Ramadan, the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU) expressed hope for healing, forgiveness, and reconciliation on Thursday.

In a statement, Isidro Purisima, the acting chief secretary of OPAPRU, said the organization was united with Muslim brothers and sisters in observing Ramadan this year. Ramadan is one of Islam’s five pillars and is a time for worship, fasting, prayer, almsgiving, communal spirit, and spiritual growth.

Particularly at this time when countries all over the world are dealing with serious problems on the fronts of peace, security, and health, Purisima added, “this blessed month holds much significance to the members of the Muslim faith.” As you spend the upcoming days fasting and donating to the needy. As you engage in intense prayer and communion with Allah, may your mind, body, and spirit be refreshed.

He expressed the hope that Ramadan would encourage everyone to deepen their connection, serve as pillars of strength and unity, and maintain the peace’s victories across the country and beyond.
