According to Usman Kansong, director general of public information and communication for the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, registration for journalists wishing to cover the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit will begin on April 1, 2023.

He stated in a brief message to ANTARA on Monday that information regarding the coverage of the first ASEAN summit this year under the Indonesian chair will be provided in detail through a media advisory released on April 1.

On May 9–11, 2023, the ASEAN Summit will take place in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara. The ministry predicted that 300–500 journalists from the ten ASEAN nations will cover the conference.

It is required for journalists covering the ASEAN Summit to register online.

Regarding the number of journalists that can cover the ASEAN Summit, he said, “However, the number is stipulated within the media advisory that is still being formulated.”

Kansong stated during last week’s press conference that the government is preparing to create a special agency to assist the media in receiving a comprehensive press release regarding the 2023 ASEAN events held in Indonesia.

Kansong stated that the ministry will offer a dedicated website that includes Indonesian Chairmanship activities in 2023 ASEAN and can be visited at ASEAN2023.id in order to allow public communication access.

Content linked to 2023 ASEAN will be available on the website run by the Informatics and Communication Directorate General in the form of news stories, images, infographics, and videos.

As stated in ASEAN2023.id, Indonesia’s chairmanship of ASEAN in 2023 is focused on advancing ASEAN as a rapidly expanding, inclusive, and sustainable economic area.

Members of ASEAN are urged to build a robust region that includes sound health infrastructure, energy, and food security, as well as monetary stability.
