As a result of the recent Holy Week celebration, the Davao Region Department of Health (DOH-11) encouraged hospitals on Wednesday to get ready for a potential spike in coronavirus disease 2019 (Coid-19) cases in their communities.

Given the circumstances, hospitals urgently need to get ready for a potential surge, especially with the extended holiday marking Holy Week, when family and public gatherings were anticipated, according to a DOH-11 alert.

The Davao Region has seen a noticeable surge of Covid-19 instances, notably in this city, according to DOH-11.

The regional hospital’s capacity is now being utilized at a rate of 31.1 percent for non-intensive care unit (ICU) beds and 40.4 percent for ICU beds as of April 10.

The Covid-19 response rules, which require that all hospitals reserve at least 20% of their current allowed bed capacity for Covid-19 patients, were reminded to health facilities by the government.

At least 15% of all Covid-19 dedicated beds in level 2 and level 3 hospitals must be ICU beds or beds that are ICU-ready.

According to DOH-11, hospitals will be in charge of developing, implementing, and overseeing policies, guidelines, and procedures pertaining to infection mitigation.
