PhilHealth launches new member benefits and increased coverage.

The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) is getting ready to provide its members with increased perks and coverage.

The number of outpatient hemodialysis sessions that are covered will grow from 90 to 156, according to a news release issued on Tuesday by acting president and chief executive officer of PhilHealth Emmanuel R. Ledesma Jr.

“As part of the enhanced coverage provided for outpatient hemodialysis, we are now able to support all of the sessions, regardless of the language spoken in the room. Ibinase po ng PhilHealth ang increase na ito sa criteria ng appropriate dialysis na nangangailangan ng tatlong 4-hour sessions per week para sa (Through this extended coverage for outpatient hemodialysis, we can provide three sessions per week for the entire year. Stage 5 chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients who require three 4-hour sessions per week of sufficient dialysis are the ones on whom PhilHealth based this increase, according to Ledesma.

Ledesma noted that the state health insurer is also on schedule to introduce new benefits, such as an outpatient mental health package and an outpatient therapeutic care package for severe acute malnutrition for children under the age of five, as instructed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

According to Ledesma, “We are committed to continually improving the benefits we provide and making them more responsive, accessible, and practical for the Filipino people.”

It will soon only take a few taps to get your health care thanks to advances like the introduction of the PhilHealth mobile app and text message confirmations, he continued.

Ledesma stated that the PhilHealth Konsulta Package, which places members in contact with qualified Konsulta providers for their medical requirements, is also being strengthened.

“The PhilHealth Konsulta Package is a primary care benefit that can be used for basic services like check-ups, health screening and assessments, laboratory, x-rays, and gamot (medicine),” he said.

Ledesma reaffirmed the organization’s dedication to attending to the medical and health needs of Filipinos in the new normal.

According to him, PhilHealth intends to rationalize its isolation packages, RT-PCR, and quick antigen testing, as well as its Covid-19 in-patient products.

As these cases have been the most frequently requested in recent years, according to our statistics, we also intend to rationalize certain in-patient case rates, such as those for moderate and high-risk pneumonia and acute ischemic and hemorrhagic conditions.
