Newly remodeled DSWD facilities are deemed “comfortable” by AICS clients

The newly refurbished and improved facilities at the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) central office have been deemed “comfortable” by applicants for the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) to complete the Step 1 processing.

When Rosemarie Portillo, 71, arrived at the DSWD central office in Batasan Hills, Quezon City, at 9 a.m. on Monday, she was grateful that she did not have to wait long outside.

“Wala naman po pila sa labas, pinapasok na po kami ng gwardiya at derecho na po pagpila sa Step 1 (There were no lines extending beyond the perimeter of the enclosure. The guard instructed us to enter and queue up for Step 1 as soon as we arrived, she claimed.

She also noted how quickly the AICS’s Step 1 was processed.

The first documents are reviewed as part of Step 1 processing, and clients are given a timetable outlining the further steps in the processing of their aid requests.

Dina Marcial, who needed help paying her mother’s hospital bill, arrived at 11 a.m., but she had no trouble waiting for her time to put in the necessary paperwork.

The social workers are nice and the process was quick, according to Marcial.

To create room for the central office facility improvements to make the processing area more comfortable for the clients, the Step 1 processing was conducted at the QC-X Building of the Quezon Memorial Circle for more than a month.

Processing of AICS requests for help with things like medical bills, hospital bills, transportation, and funeral arrangements is scheduled from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays.

To help with the quick processing of their requests, clients are recommended to bring complete documentation.

AICS acts as a social safety net or a stop-gap measure designed to assist people and families in recovering from unanticipated crises including illness or the death of a family member, natural and man-made disasters, and other crisis situations.

Clients are instructed to seek assistance at the DSWD Field Office or satellite center close to where they live as the initiative is implemented nationwide.
