Increased maritime tourism in Visayas due to the new RoRo ferry
The new Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) ferry service of a shipping company, according to the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) on Monday, will provide access to shipping services between the provinces of Cebu and Bohol as well as neighboring locations and improve maritime tourism.
Lite Shipping Corporation announced the launch of MV Lite Ferry Seven in a news release on Monday. The event was held in Tagbilaran City on April 22.
The new RoRo ferry can accommodate 10 automobiles, 18 ten-wheelers, and 300 passengers.
The ship, which will be finished in 2022 and was built in China, has standard and tourist cabins certified by RINA of Italy.
According to MARINA Administrator Hernani Fabia, the launch is a significant step in the city’s continuous development as a tourism destination in Bohol.
In his statement, Fabia stated that the MARINA was “determined to build a strong foundation and create more catalysts for the development of maritime tourism in the Philippines” through the Marine Industry Development Plan.
With the growth of Lite Shipping Corporation’s fleet, MARINA gave MV Lite Ferry Seven pioneering status on the Oslob, Cebu to Dapitan City and Dipolog City routes.
As part of the Strong Republic Nautical Highway, the ferries of the shipping corporation connect the provinces of Sorsogon, Samar, Northern Samar, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental, Negros Occidental, Siquijor, Surigao del Norte, Agusan del Norte, Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental, and Zamboanga del Norte in 32 destinations.
