DBM: Starting on May 15, government employees will get a midyear bonus.
State employees will begin receiving their midyear bonuses on May 15, according to Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, who announced on Sunday.
As stated in the agency-specific allocation under the 2023 General Appropriations Act or GAA, I’m glad to inform you that our government servants will get their midyear bonus this year. She stated in a news release on Sunday, “We know that fellow government employees look forward to receiving this bonus which can really help in their daily needs. Alam naman po natin na isa ito sa mga inaabangan ng ating mga kapwa kawani ng gobyerno.
Therefore, we remind all government offices and agencies to ensure that bonuses are released to their employees on time. As stated in our current laws and regulations, simula (beginning) May 15 po ‘yan.
The midyear bonus, equal to one month’s basic pay as of May 15, is awarded to eligible employees who have contributed at least four months of service between July 1 of the immediately prior year and May 15 of the current year.
Additionally, the individual must still be employed by the government as of May 15 of the current year and must have received at least a good performance rating during the previous rating period or the relevant performance appraisal period.
The midyear bonus will be given to all civilian positions, whether regular, casual, or contractual, appointive or elective, full-time or part-time, currently existing or hereafter created in the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches, Constitutional Commissions and other Constitutional offices, state universities and colleges, and government-owned or -controlled corporations (GOCCs), and in location.
Armed Forces of the Philippines personnel under the Department of National Defence are also eligible for the mid-year bonus, as are uniformed personnel of the Philippine National Police, the Philippine Public Safety College, the Bureau of Fire Protection, and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology under the Department of the Interior and Local Government; the Bureau of Corrections under the Department of Justice; and the Philippine Coast Guard under the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
For employees of covered GOCCs, the governing boards of each shall decide whether to provide midyear bonuses, whereas the sanggunian (council) of each province, city, municipality, and barangay shall decide whether to grant midyear bonuses.
