πŸŒΎπŸ“ Ilocos Farmers Encouraged to Register for DA Programs Under RSBSA 🚜

The Department of Agriculture in the Ilocos Region called on farmers on Wednesday to ensure their inclusion in the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) in order to access various agricultural programs offered by the government.

“To receive assistance from the government, it is crucial that you register in the RSBSA,” stated Doris Joy Garcia, regional technical director for operations of the DA, during her speech at the regional “Dagyaw” open government town hall meeting held at the Provincial Farmers Livelihood Center in Vigan City.

Nearly 1,000 participants attended the event, which focused on discussing government initiatives to help farmers and fisherfolk enhance their productivity for a food and nutrition-secure Philippines.

Garcia highlighted the DA’s programs and strategies to address diverse concerns related to agriculture and food security.

The range of government assistance includes agricultural loans, crop and livestock insurance, provision of seeds, fertilizers, farm inputs, technical assistance, soil analysis, and the issuance of livestock and poultry travel certifications, among others.

With a budget of PHP39.2 million this year, the DA is currently updating its RSBSA to establish a reliable source of data and information on agri-fishery stakeholders through the farmers and fisherfolk registry system. This data will serve as a basis for implementing various DA intervention programs, as well as formulating and evaluating policies.

The program also involves profiling eligible farmers and fisherfolk, as well as geo-referencing farm parcels.

The DA aims to register 390,000 farmers in the RSBSA. In Ilocos, a total of 384,136 farmers have already been enlisted, with most registrants coming from Pangasinan (169,771 farmers), followed by Ilocos Sur (77,221 farmers), Ilocos Norte (75,731 farmers), and La Union (61,374 farmers).

The RSBSA is an electronic compilation of basic information on farmers and farm laborers engaged in animal and crop production. It grants them access to agriculture-related programs, services, and other interventions provided by the government.

To register, eligible individuals should acquire an RSBSA enrollment form from the local Municipal Agriculture Office or the DA – Regional Field Office, and submit it along with a photocopy of any valid government identification card, proof of land ownership for farm owners, and proof of agreement for lessees.

During the registration process, the farmer’s photo, biometrics, and signature will be taken. Enrollees will receive a stub with their RSBSA number as proof of registration. πŸŒ±πŸ“‹
