The Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU) expressed gratitude to Albay Representative Joey Salceda for his support towards the peace agenda of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s administration. 💬🤝🌍

In a statement over the weekend, OPAPRU Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. thanked and commended Rep. Salceda for wholeheartedly supporting the national government’s efforts in building peace. This demonstrates that the congressman shares their vision of achieving a just and lasting peace for the country. 🙏🤝🇵🇭

Since assuming his role in OPAPRU, Galvez mentioned that the agency has been closely collaborating with Salceda’s office and other members of the House of Representatives to advance, sustain, and expand the achievements of the comprehensive peace process in the Philippines. 🤝🏛️

During their meeting on July 6, Galvez and Salceda discussed potential areas of cooperation, particularly in implementing initiatives that promote greater peace, security, and stability in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). 💼🤝🕊️

Salceda pledged his assistance in supporting the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA), the interim Bangsamoro government, to ensure the passage of crucial legislation like the BARMM’s Revenue Code and Investment Code. 📜💪

The two also deliberated on implementing projects under the Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA) Program nationwide, aiming to unlock the benefits of peace. The PAMANA Program operates under OPAPRU’s supervision. 🏗️🌱

Galvez described the discussions with Rep. Salceda as highly productive, identifying potential areas of collaboration to enhance the delivery of peacebuilding initiatives in the country’s Bangsamoro and other conflict-affected regions. 🗣️🤝🌍

The OPAPRU chief expressed his gratitude to Salceda and his team for supporting his re-appointment as peace adviser. This support holds great significance for them as public servants and peace workers. 🙏🤝

Galvez served as the presidential peace adviser from November 2018 to January 2023, after which he was appointed as the officer in charge of the Department of National Defense. On June 21, Marcos reappointed him as the head of OPAPRU. 📅🤝🕊️
