D&L Industries Inc., a listed chemical and food manufacturer, announced on Monday the commencement of commercial operations at its PHP10.5-billion plant in Batangas.

According to the company’s statement, the production lines of the new plant are now running, and full commercial operations are expected in the coming months once the final fine-tuning works are completed.

D&L President Alvin Lao expressed his delight at reaching this important milestone, especially considering the challenges faced, such as the pandemic, strict lockdowns during construction, and global supply chain bottlenecks.

Situated on a 26-hectare property within the First Industrial Township-Special Economic Zone in Batangas, the manufacturing facility aims to offer customized solutions and a simplified supply chain to address the ongoing global logistical challenges customers face.

Lao emphasized that the Batangas plant will contribute to the company’s objective of positioning the Philippines as a quality manufacturing hub for sustainable, natural, and organic products.

D&L plans to launch a comprehensive range of shelf-ready products from coconut oil, targeting categories such as personal and baby care, cosmetics and beauty care, household cleaning, health and nutrition, and food and vegetable oils. These products will align with sustainability, naturalness, and organic principles.

This initiative will assist global brand owners in enhancing their offerings of sustainable products.

Lao stated, “This marks the beginning of an exciting journey as we venture into global markets and manufacture higher value-added products. Our Batangas plant puts us in a good position as global demand returns.”
