🇲🇽🤝🇵🇭 Mexico, PH to boost cooperation on trade, culture.

As part of celebrating Mexico and the Philippines’ 70 years of relations, the two countries agreed to increase cooperation on trade and culture. 🎉🌍

Presenting his credentials to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in Malacañang on Monday, Mexico’s Ambassador-designate, Daniel Hernandez Joseph, expressed the belief that the two countries can achieve significant progress “in trade, in culture, in science.” 🤝🌐📚

Marcos emphasized the need for a new workforce with different skills that align with the requirements of the new economy. He highlighted the importance of transforming the workforce to understand and adapt to daily technologies across various fields. 💼🌱💡

While traditionally seen as a distant country, Marcos noted that the pandemic has reshaped the business landscape, making physical travel less essential. He highlighted this new reality’s changing possibilities and potential for the bilateral relationship. 🌎🚀

Expressing gratitude, Marcos thanked Mexico for caring for Filipinos and acknowledged the strong Filipino community in the country. 🙏🇵🇭🇲🇽

During their conversation, Hernandez Joseph revealed that Mexico’s national university has begun offering Filipino studies, creating new opportunities for knowledge exchange and strengthening the relationship between the two nations. 🎓📖

The diplomatic relations between the Philippines began on April 14, 1953, with the opening of embassies in Mexico City and Manila. Earlier this year, the 70th Anniversary of Bilateral Relations was commemorated by illuminating national monuments and buildings in both countries. 🏛️🌟

Recent data shows 1,206 Filipinos in Mexico, primarily working in craft, trade, and technical professions. Mexico was the Philippines’ 23rd trading partner in 2020, with a trade value of USD 1.1 billion. Prominent products for promotion to Mexico include machinery, food products, furniture, garments, and more. 📊🛠️🍽️👕

Mexico has ongoing applications for market access in the Philippines for various goods such as bovine and pork meat, grapes, avocados, and citrus. 📋🌽🥩🍇🥑🍊
