P9.3-B infrastructure projects are finished by PRDP Mindanao in 2022.

The 178 subprojects under the infrastructure development projects of the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) in Mindanao, which had a total cost of PHP9.34 billion in 2022, were finished, according to a report released on Monday.

The Second Additional Financing and European Union Co-financing Grant presently has 85 additional subprojects totaling PHP3.85 billion in various levels of preparation for immediate implementation, according to a statement from PRDP-Mindanao (AF2-EU).

An innovative, value-chain-focused, and climate-resilient agriculture and fisheries sector is what the PRDP-Mindanao, a six-year national initiative run by the Department of Agriculture (DA), wants to create.

“In the second half of 2022, PRDP Mindanao took part in two trade shows, the Philippine Coffee Expo in September and the Cacao Congress in November. In order to establish future trade agreements, these expos gave PRDP Mindanao the chance to network with other industry players and leaders for coffee and cocoa. They also connected their partner cooperatives with industry buyers.

The Philippine Coffee Expo, according to the PRDP-Mindanao, has fostered relationships between the private sector and Nestle, Equilibrium, and local and regional coffee councils like the one in Sultan Kudarat province.

According to PRDP-Mindanao, it was able to create 36 value chain analyses (VCAs) that were authorized, which led to 33 commodities investment plans that local government units employed to maximize the use of their resources.

It claimed that as a result of these VCAs, investments of PHP72 billion were made in both PRDP-funded and non-PRDP-funded projects across Mindanao.

Additionally, investments totaling PHP36.6 million were given to help the Department of Agriculture (USDA) implement its Agriculture and Fisheries Modernization Plan (AFMP) (DA).

PRDP-Mindanao executed 99 subprojects on enterprise development for a total of PHP457.7 million.

According to PRDP-Mindanao, there are already 49 further subprojects in various phases of implementation that, when finished, will provide PHP524.9 million in enterprise support for the entire island for 2023.

Farmers and fishermen in Mindanao may anticipate additional interventions to assist them to boost their incomes and production thanks to the AF2-EU award, it said.

The PRDP-Mindanao now has 46 authorized subprojects totaling PPP2.5 billion approved and nine further subprojects totaling PHP155.6 million in various phases of planning and execution.
