🚍🚫 Planned strike won’t address PUV drivers’ concerns – DOTr

📣 The Department of Transportation (DOTr) denied accusations from transport group Manibela that it failed to address concerns of public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers and operators. The DOTr stated that consultations with various stakeholders, including the LTFRB and OTC, have been ongoing in recent weeks regarding concerns such as the Local Public Transport Route Plan (LPTRP).

🤝 The DOTr, LTFRB, and OTC expressed their openness to dialogue and vowed to address legitimate concerns through consultations and forums. They emphasized that the LTFRB has been fair in implementing its mandate based on the Omnibus Franchising Guidelines.

🔎 The DOTr challenged Manibela to provide concrete proof and evidence to support their allegations. They criticized the planned strike to gain media attention and public sympathy rather than addressing the legitimate concerns of PUV drivers and operators.

📢 While the group is free to stage protests, the DOTr asserted that it would not be held hostage and that the whole country and innocent commuters should not be blackmailed whenever the group does not get what it wants.

💬 The DOTr released this statement in response to Manibela’s announcement of a three-day transport strike starting on July 24. Manibela cited the government’s alleged failure to address their concerns, including allegations of preferential treatment in awarding PUV routes.
