CEBU CITY, Philippines – The Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) extension office in Cebu cautioned Cebuanos on Wednesday to avoid engaging persons posing as investment solicitors representing businesses that are not registered with the government.

In an emailed statement, Vanessa Almeda, SEC-Cebu information officer, stated the commission’s Enforcement and Investor Protection Department (EIPD) uncovered five businesses that are not registered with them yet invite people to invest using online platforms.

Great4 International Marketing Corp., doing business as Home of Organic Wellness (HOW); Sky International Trade Co. Ltd./Philippine88.com; Ground Zero Poultry; AVZ Ventures/AVZVentures, Inc.; and Global Booking Hub, doing business as Global Booking Hub.com/GBH/GBH-12 Consumer Goods Trading, were the five companies identified by Almeda.

According to the initial investigation, HOW has been enticing the public to invest in the company by offering membership packages for PHP7,000 each, which entitle would-be investors to high-ranking positions such as marketing director, marketing coordinator, marketing specialist, marketing officer, and brand ambassador.

Sky instructs potential investors to register on their website and choose from nine “VIP plans” with online orders ranging from PHP200 to PHP50,000.

“Depending on the plan selected, the investor can earn anywhere from PHP20 to PHP2,400 every day. “An investor can also earn a 10% direct order rebate and a 5% indirect order refund,” according to the EIPD statement.

The poultry farm provides its lenders with the option to save money while also contributing to the company’s success.

They can choose to invest a minimum of PHP20,000 with a monthly guaranteed return of 8%, or a total of 48 percent returns semi-annually.

AVZ offers profit-generating strategies based on the referral and recruitment of new members.

Global is a collection of people claiming to be in the delivery service and forex business, and they appear to be marketing “Tora Token,” a cryptocurrency with a value based on the amount invested.

“Global Booking is registered with the DTI (Department of Trade and Industry) as GBH-12 Consumer Goods Trading with certificate number 3356904 and is run by Masahiko Ferrer Tanaka. AVZVentures Inc. is the name of a company that is registered as a corporation but is situated in Quezon City but does not have a secondary license to solicit investment,” Almeda informed the Philippine News Agency.

HOW she claimed, is situated in Quezon City and does not have a supplementary license to solicit investments.

Almeda urged Cebuanos who come across these gangs to report them to the authorities before they may enslave a large number of people.
