PNP encourages tourists to bring their vaccination cards with them at all times.

On Thursday, the Philippine National Police (PNP) urged all motorists and commuters traveling in and out of Metro Manila and nearby provinces to always bring their immunization cards, which may be required at border control stations.

This comes as some cities in Metro Manila and their surrounding municipalities in the province of Bulacan, which is now also on Alert Level 3, have asked police officers to examine inbound tourists for proof of vaccination.

“Those who do not have immunization cards will be denied entry and asked to leave. The PNP understands that movement cannot be stifled, but non-essential travel can be limited. In a statement, PNP chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos said, “Just stay at home at this time when you have nothing urgent to go outdoors.”

The policy is in line with Metro Manila mayors’ decision to limit unvaccinated people’s access to public transportation.

Every day, the PNP continues to analyze the situation. More police officers can be dispatched to checkpoints with a high volume of vehicles if necessary.

Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police (PNP) visited 367 quarantine hotels across the country as part of President Rodrigo Duterte’s and the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) instruction for the police to keep an eye on the people.

At least two police officers will be stationed in coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) quarantine facilities to prevent people from evading mandated isolation.

“Well, we’re following the President’s order to station two PNP officers at these hotels that are being used as quarantine facilities for returning abroad Filipinos for a 12-hour shift.” As a result, we have sufficient employees. In a TV interview, Carlos added, “We have already tasked Metro Manila police head Maj. Gen. Vicente Danao and the other regional directors to send two cops immediately.”

“So we’ve already done that, and we’re just making sure that we’ve coordinated with other government agencies like the Department of Tourism (DOT), the Bureau of Quarantine, and the Department of Transportation (DOTr) for a common help desk so that we can all work together to ensure that the returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs) are doing their quarantine in hotels,” he added.

The PNP checked and verified a total of 9,033 people from 367 of the 408 quarantine hotels around the country. So far, no quarantine skippers have been discovered.

The majority of the people are staying in hotels in the National Capital Region, which has 119 quarantine hotels and 6,736 people.

Central Luzon came in second with 1,680 people while Central Visayas came in third with 359 people staying in quarantine hotels.
