By the end of next week, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) hopes to have virtual dissemination of the verdict on the disqualification proceedings filed against presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

“The Comelec First Division will issue its Resolution on the DQ cases involving Marcos Jr. on or before January 17. We’ll read it on Livestream in the Session Hall if it’s not too unsafe “On Tuesday, First Division Presiding Commissioner Rowena Guanzon tweeted from her @rowena guanzon account.

The disqualification cases against the former Senator that have been deemed submitted for resolution were raffled off by the division on Monday.

“The cases have been assigned to a ponente and submitted for Resolution,” she stated.

Bonifacio Ilagan and others, the Akbayan Party, and Abubakar Mangelen filed the petitions.

Former MPs Satur Ocampo and Liza Maza were also petitioners in the Ilagan case. They said that because Marcos is a convicted felon, he is ineligible to run for president.

In its plea, Akbayan made the same reasoning.

Mangelen, who claims to be the lawfully elected chair of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), has petitioned the electoral body to declare the Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance (CONA) issued by his party and presented by Marcos null and useless.
