Alert Level 3 has been raised to 28 more cities and provinces.

From January 14 to January 31, twenty-eight more cities and provinces will be elevated to a higher Alert Level 3, according to Malacanang.

The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) decided to raise these cities and provinces to Alert Level 3 status because of the rise of Covid-19 instances in the country, according to Acting Presidential Spokesperson, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles.

Benguet, Kalinga, and Abra are in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR); La Union, Ilocos Norte, and Pangasinan are in Region 1 (Ilocos); Nueva Vizcaya, Isabela, and Quirino are in Region 2 (Cagayan Valley); Nueva Ecija and Tarlac are in Region 3 (Central Luzon); Quezon Province is in Region 4-A (Calabarzon); Occidental Mindoro (Bicol)

Bacolod City, Aklan, Capiz, and Antique are in Visayas Region 6 (Western Visayas); Cebu City and Mandaue City are in Visayas Region 7 (Central Visayas); and Tacloban City is in Visayas Region 8. (Eastern Visayas).

Cagayan de Oro City in Region 10 (Northern Mindanao); Davao City in Region 11 (Davao); Butuan City and Agusan del Sur in Caraga; and Cotabato City in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao are among the cities and provinces in Mindanao that are on Alert Level 3. (BARMM).

All other provinces and cities not specifically mentioned will stay on their existing alert status.

Baguio City (CAR), Dagupan City (Ilocos Region); Santiago and Cagayan (Cagayan Valley); Angeles City, Bataan, Olongapo City, Pampanga, and Zambales (Central Luzon); Batangas and Lucena City (Calabarzon); Naga City (Bicol); Iloilo City (Western Visayas); and Lapu-lapu City (Western Visayas) (Central Visayas).

The NCR Plus, which includes Metro Manila and the adjacent provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal, is also on Alert Level 3.

The Philippines added 32,246 additional Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, raising the total number of cases in the country to 3,058,634.

The number of individuals who have recovered has risen to 2,797,816 after 5,063 more people have recovered, while the number of people who have died has risen to 52,654 after 144 more people have died from the sickness.

Despite requests to make Covid-19 testing more accessible, if not free, Malacanang insisted that focused or responsible testing be done to stop the disease from spreading.

“Responsible testing po yung ginagawa natin kasi (We are performing responsible testing because) we must be cognizant that the resources of the pamahalaan and the Philippines are not inexhaustible” (that the resources of government are not unlimited). And we have to be strategic about where we spend our resources,” Nograles added at a press conference at the Palace.
