CAAP said the ‘no vax, no ride’ policy has been positively appreciated by aviation travelers.

According to a Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) official, the adoption of the “no vaccine, no ride” policy was favorably received by flying travelers.

“The naging pagtanggap ng ating mga mananakay sa unang araw ng implementasyon ng ‘no vaccine, no ride policy’ sa ating paliparan is quite remarkable. Over the weekend, nagkaroon na po tayo ng soft implementation, nagkaroon na po tayo ng malawakang awareness drive, kaya hindi na rin po nagulat ang ating mananakay kaya po nagkaroon ng magandang implementasyon (Passengers well-received the first day of implementation of the ‘no vaccination, It helped that the soft rollout took place over the weekend. There was a widespread communication campaign, so passengers were not startled, and the policy was well implemented) “In a Laging Handa briefing, CAAP head of staff, lawyer Danjun Lucas, stated.

Only a few people were denied boarding on Tuesday, he noted.

In order to implement the program, authorities are employing a two-pronged method.

First, airport security staff review confirmed that the persons have been properly vaccinated or are exempt from the rule. Persons with medical conditions that prevent them from getting immunized against Covid-19, as well as those traveling for medical reasons, are exempt.

The second measure is that before issuing a boarding card, airlines must verify the proof submitted.

Individuals who are only partially vaccinated, even if they have a schedule for their second shot, will not be allowed to fly, according to Lucas.

Returning residents and those traveling for important purposes, on the other hand, are exempt, he said.

He went on to say that demonstrating a negative RT-PCR or antigen test result does not exempt them from the requirement and that these documents are only needed if local government units request them.

Meanwhile, while the Alert Level 3 or higher is in effect, Lucas said the “no vaccination, no ride” policy will be implemented.

“This is a temporary measure that will be evaluated if the alert level is reduced to Level 2,” he said.
