The government plans to put up Covid-19 vaccination centers in transportation terminals.

Malacanang announced Friday that the government will set up coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccination facilities in airports and train stations to boost immunization efforts in the wake of an increase in cases.

“Sa mga susunod na araw din ay ilulunsad ng DOTr (Department of Transportation) ang vaccination sites sa mga istasyon ng tren, pantalan, at maging sa tollways,” Cabinet Secretary and acting presidential spokesperson Karlo Nograles said in a press conference.

Nograles made the statement after the DOTr began enforcing the “no vaccine, no ride” policy in an effort to stem the spread of Covid-19 as a result of a new wave of infections.

Except for individuals who are medically exempt, those who need to purchase important products and services, and those who work in essential industries, the policy prohibits the unvaccinated and partially unvaccinated from using public transit.

From January 24 to 28, Nograles added, the DOTr will hold a Covid-19 immunization program for transport personnel and commuters at the Paranaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX).

“Ang programang ito ay sadyang ihahandog natin para sa mga transport workers at mga commuter,” he said.

Walk-ins will be welcome at the “We Vax As One: Mobile Vaccination Drive,” with registration taking place on-site.

During the vaccination program, around 500 AstraZeneca vaccine doses will be administered daily.
