Booster shots are recommended by PRRD, and the 2-dose vax footage is an “old video.”

According to Malacanang, President Rodrigo Duterte emphasized the significance of having a coronavirus booster shot in order to control the spread of the Omicron type.

The announcement occurred after an old video of the CEO claiming that two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine were sufficient surfaced on social media.

The video was taken on September 20, 2021, when the administration of booster shots in the country had not yet been legalized, according to Cabinet Secretary and interim presidential spokesperson Karlo Nograles.

“Mismong si Pangulong Duterte ang nagbigay diin noong Disyembre hinggil sa halaga ng booster injections lalo na sa pagkontrol ng pagkalat ng nakakahawang Omicron variant,” he added at a Palace briefing.

The old film was made when the country’s top aim was to get as many people as possible to get the primary series, or the first two vaccine doses, he explained.

“Malayo na ang pagkakaiba ng sitwasyon natin ngayon sa konteksto ng bakunahan sa ating bansa noong Setyembre,” says the narrator. Una, bakuna na tayong marami. Pangalawa, inaprubahan na ng pamahalaan ang paggamit ng booster doses sa mga fully vaccinated bilang pagsunod sa rekomendasyon ng ating health workers (Our vaccination status has altered since September of last year. To begin with, we already have a sufficient supply of vaccines. Second, booster dosages are already permitted for fully vaccinated people based on our health specialists’ recommendations),” he stated.

We renew our call for the public to be vigilant of information about Covid-19 that does not come from reliable sources, makining tayo sa mga medical expert, hindi sa mga marites (Let us listen to our medical experts, not the marites),” he added.

The Department of Health approved booster doses for individuals at least three months after receiving their second dose, or at least two months after receiving the original single-dose vaccine, on December 21, 2021.

In response to the spread of the Omicron variation, the World Health Organization has supported “broader access internationally” to current Covid-19 vaccinations for primary series and booster doses, “in the hope that this will help minimize the emergence and effect of new variants of concern.”
