The Manila city government is preparing for the start of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccination campaign for children aged 5 to 11.

Manila Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso announced on Tuesday evening that the vaccination of children aged 5 to 11 will take place at the first two sites, which will open soon.

He stated that new immunization stations for children aged 5 to 11 will be built to make it easy for parents and guardians to bring their children.

This came as he urged parents and guardians to register their qualified children at www.manilacovid19vaccine.ph, assuring them that the Covid-19 immunizations are child-safe.

Meanwhile, Domagoso stated that vaccinations for kids aged 12 to 17 will continue, asking parents to take advantage of the free Covid-19 immunizations for their children’s protection.

He claims that the majority of those infected with Covid-19, including youngsters, are unvaccinated.

Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. of the National Task Force (NTF) Against Covid-19 announced on Monday that the government will begin administering the formulated Covid-19 vaccination to children aged 5 to 11 years old by February 4.

The developed low-dosing Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine, which will be used mostly in the younger population, is anticipated to arrive in the country on February 2, according to him.

Manila’s city administration has given out a total of 3,176,945 Covid-19 vaccine doses, with 1,539,278 people, including 112,793, receiving full vaccination.
