Ukraine appeals to the international community to stop Russia from employing blackmail.
Ukraine’s parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, urged the international community on Tuesday to stop Russia from blackmailing the country and threatening a full-scale invasion.
In the midst of ongoing tensions between Russia and Ukraine, lawmakers convened with this purpose in mind.
During the parliament session, a resolution was passed urging the UN, the European Parliament, and governments and parliaments of other countries and international organizations to stop Russia from continuing its unjust military blackmail against Ukraine, which it is carrying out in order to prevent Ukraine’s European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations from being realized.
A total of 282 of the 319 deputies voted in favor of the measure.
The European Parliament also urged for the use of all diplomatic options at its disposal to help de-escalate the situation and remove Russian forces from Ukraine’s borders.
