‘No vax, no ride’ in the NCR will be determined by the next alert level.

The suspended “no vaccination, no ride” regulation in public transportation in the National Capital Region (NCR) would be reinstated only if the Alert Level 3 or higher is maintained, according to a Department of Transportation (DOTr) official.

DOTr Undersecretary Artemio Tuazon Jr. stated in a Laging Handa briefing on Thursday that the regulation was only delayed for 30 days, or until February 25.

“Kapag nag-Alert Level 2 tayo, masususpindi na po itong effectivity nitong ‘no vax, no ride’ policy po natin,” Tuazon explained.

The Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) has yet to decide whether to keep, ease, or accelerate the current Covid-19 limits in NCR, according to him.

“May IATF meeting nga po today at sa tingin ko po ay pag-uusapan iyan at ang IATF ang magsasabi kung ito po ay bababa o hindi (May IATF meeting nga po today at sa tingin ko po ay pag-uusapan iyan at ang IATF ang magsa

With the potential of the vaccine policy being reinstated, he urged people to be vaccinated while the suspension was still in effect.

“Itong 30-days na window na binibigay natin ay para lang ho makumpleto na nila o makapagpabakuna na iyong ating mga mamamayan na hindi pa po nakapagpabakuna,” Tuazon explained.

Exemptions to the policy will continue to exist, such as for individuals who have proof of medical exemption, those who work in critical industries, and those who have been allowed by their barangay to buy necessary products and services.

“Pagkatapos po nitong 30 days na ito ay we will rigorously enforce the ‘no vax, no ride’ policy na po,” says the spokesperson. But, again, mayroon po tayong exemptions dito (After these 30 days, the ‘no vax, no ride’ regulation would be rigidly enforced.) But, again, we have exemptions),” Tuazon stated.

He previously stated that the regulation might be applied outside of the NCR if a local government unit passes an ordinance prohibiting unvaccinated people from using public transportation.
