CDO and MisOr amplify the anti-vaccine movement beyond national lines.

Both the local government and the provincial government of Misamis Oriental have stepped up their efforts to vaccinate inhabitants regardless of where they live in the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccine push.

Despite the low vaccination attendance in Gitagum, Misamis Oriental, Mayor Oscar Moreno stated Friday that the city administration will continue to deploy its vaccination team through mobile vaccination as a chartered city apart from the province.

“I’m not sure what happened or why things turned out the way they did, but what matters is that we offered our assistance and support. I hope they understand that the vaccination we provided is a form of protection for the residents of the community “he stated

On January 26 and 27, the city’s mobile vaccination team operated in Gitagum to assist in the immunization of people.

Gitagum is one of the municipalities having a low immunization rate, according to Moreno.

Only 316 people were immunized in Gitagum over the two-day immunization campaign, according to Dr. Ted Yu Jr., a member of the municipal health office’s medical team.

Dr. Gina Itchon, the chief of the research and development department of the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC), echoed Moreno’s views, claiming that this is the best way to prevent a probable increase of Covid-19 cases in the city’s hospitals.

Residents from Misamis Oriental communities with poor immunization rates, according to Itchon, will most likely travel to the city if they require significant medical attention.

“It’s also useful to know their vaccination rate because these people (who live in towns with low vaccination rates) will most likely seek treatment here if they become unwell. (By doing so, we will be able to assist towns with low immunization rates.) “she stated

NMMC has treated 267 Covid-19 positive individuals as of Thursday, with 168 of them now residing in its Covid-19 unit.

The remaining 99 patients are being treated at a Covid-19 facility in Barangay San Simon, which is also supervised by the NMMC.

98 of the total hospitalized Covid-19 cases are not residents of Cagayan de Oro.

Yu also stated that the start of the mobile vaccination rollout in Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental, is nearing completion and that it will likely last several days.

Meanwhile, Misamis Oriental Provincial Health Office (PHO) Chief Dr. Jerie Calingasan revealed that thousands of citizens in the province and Cagayan de Oro City have received booster doses since a walk-in immunization facility opened earlier this month.

“During the three-day walk-in vaccine, we inoculated 3,997 persons.” This is in accordance with the government’s efforts to ramp up its campaign in order to achieve mass population protection as quickly as possible,” he said.

Inoculated residents were given their shots based on their desired type of booster vaccine, according to government data.

Pfizer donated 2,681 booster doses, Moderna 973, Sinovac 203, and AstraZeneca 140 of the 3,997 booster doses administered.
