Residents can now hold private gatherings, according to the local government, but the site must be inspected and approved a week before the event.

In a phone interview on Monday, Aileen Refuerzo, the Public Information Office chief, said the order is part of Mayor Benjamin Magalong’s Executive Order 5-2022, which outlines ways to prevent the Omicron variety of coronavirus disease from spreading further (Covid-19).

“The host must first seek a permit to assemble from the mayor’s office at least seven days prior to the conduct of the private gathering activity, the approval of which will be subject to examination by the City Health Service Office (CHSO),” according to Refuerzo.

If the event is held indoors, the host must ensure that attendance is only 30% of capacity, and 50% if it is held outdoors.

“Ang pwede lang mag-attend yung mga vaccinated (only those who have been vaccinated are permitted to attend),” she continued.

Following it was discovered that those who got the virus attended get-togethers over the Christmas and New Year celebrations, the city authorities announced a moratorium on the holding of private meetings after the holidays.

This January, the city saw an increase in Covid-19 cases, which experts believe is due to the Omicron variant.
