By March, a poll portal designed by the Department of Science and Technology will be operational.
By March, end-users will be able to use the Electoral Board (EB) Certification portal established by the Department of Science and Technology – National Capital Region (DOST-NCR).
Because of the pandemic’s restrictions on face-to-face activities, Secretary Fortunato de la Pea said in a filmed report on Friday that the DOST judged it necessary to automate the customary certification process.
The portal will hold an online written exam for instructors who will be serving in the national and municipal elections on May 9th.
Since 2007, the DOST has started certifying EBs in preparation for elections.
From January 17 to 24, the EB Certification portal was subjected to load and stress testing, according to De la Pea.
DOST and the Commission on Elections signed a memorandum of understanding for the portal’s use on January 25.
“The system performance testing was conducted by certifiers from the 16 DOST regional offices, BARMM (Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao), other DOST agencies, and state universities and colleges to identify possible issues such as system bugs, downtime behavior, and server specifications to handle large group requests,” de la Pea said.
The system test will also confirm that the portal fulfills the ISO 9126 software system testing standards’ passing evaluation ratio.
