According to Malacanang, President Rodrigo R. Duterte is currently undergoing obligatory quarantine protocols after being exposed to a household staff member who tested positive for Covid-19.

“The Palace confirms that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte was recently exposed to Covid-19-positive domestic workers.” The President has now been tested for Covid-19, and while the results were negative, he is currently following obligatory quarantine protocols, according to acting presidential spokesperson Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles.

Duterte’s last day of exposure to a Covid-19 positive case, according to Nograles, was January 30.

He said, “His RT-PCR (reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction) Negative test result was last Monday, January 31, 2022, and he tested negative for the second time on Tuesday, February 1, 2022.”

Duterte’s recent visit to Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan, he added, was “just for a routine medical check-up.”

Duterte is still “in constant communication” with Cabinet members, according to Nograles, to ensure that essential topics are addressed while he is in quarantine.

“While in quarantine, the Chief Executive continues to work and is in close communication with Cabinet members to ensure that essential topics are addressed and to monitor the implementation of his directions, notably in relation to the government’s Covid-19 reaction,” he said.

Former Chief Presidential Legal Adviser Salvador Panelo said Duterte is “occupied with paperwork” in Malacaang’s Bahay ng Pagbabago in a separate message to reporters.
