The Philippine Armed Forces (AFP) has placed all available transport assets, including aircraft, on notice for prospective transport operations in support of the three-day national mass immunization against Covid-19, which began on Monday.

“We have also put our equipment on alert, we have our air assets, ang ating mga kagamitan (all our assets) for vaccine transport are being readied so that when needed, agad agad natin silang madeploy (they can be deployed immediately),” said AFP chief Lt. Gen. Andres Centino during an interview with “Laging Handa.”

Aside from its transport assets, the AFP sent military men to serve as liaison officers to assist in the immunization program around the country.

“Meron tayong (We have) liaison teams in different parts of the country, and we’ve mobilized personnel from the Army, Navy, and Air Force to work with other government agencies to implement yung pagbakuna ng ating mga kababayan (so that vaccination of our fellow Filipinos can begin right away),” he added.

The AFP, according to Centino, has developed “vaccine action squads” that may be dispatched promptly in places where they are needed.

As the situation unfolded, Chief of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), Maj. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr., stated that all police camps in the Metropolis are open for vaccinations. This is in addition to the 213 vaccination stations currently available throughout Metro Manila.

All NCRPO camps, he stressed, are safe and secure.

“We will continue to help the government’s immunization program in whatever manner we can to ensure that our folks are protected from the Covid-19. Rest confident that the camps would be the safest immunization sites, with PNP personnel who are not just ready for any threats but also follow all safety regulations and protocols “Danao remarked.

As of November 25, 97.38 percent of NCRPO workers, or 23,149 people, had been fully vaccinated, with 1.86 percent, or 441 people, having received their first dosage.
