
For the fifth day in a row, new Covid-19 instances fell below 10,000
The Department of Health (DOH) reported 7,689 new SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2) infections on Saturday, the sixth day in a row that the number fell below 10,000.
According to the most recent case bulletin, a total of 136,436 people are being treated for coronavirus disease in 2019 (Covid-19), down from a high of 291,618 on January 21.
There are now 7,069 asymptomatic cases, 124,476 mild cases, 3,106 moderate cases, 1,468 severe cases, and just 317 catastrophic cases.
Since the pandemic began in March 2020, the DOH has reported 22,539 new recoveries, bringing the total number of people who have recovered from the disease to 3,410,821, or 94.7 percent of the total 3,601,471 counts.
On the other hand, one new death raised the total number of Covid-19 deaths to 54,214.
Based on the 40,075 people who were tested on February 3, the positivity percentage was calculated to be 23.3 percent.
All laboratories were functioning on February 3, according to the Department of Health, although six were unable to upload their data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System.
In the previous 14 days, laboratories contributed an average of 0.6 percent of samples tested and 0.9 percent of positive persons.
To date, 42 percent of the 3,800 ICU beds, 40 percent of the 20,900 isolation beds, and 40 percent of the 15,500 ward beds for Covid-19 patients have been occupied across the country.
At least 36% of the 1,300 ICU beds, 31% of the 4,600 isolation beds, and 34% of the 4,300 ward beds in Metro Manila are filled.
