There will be no ‘politicking’ in the investigation into the ‘death plan’ against Marcos, according to the PNP-ACG.
In its investigation into the purported assassination plan against presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., the Philippine National Police-Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) refuted charges of politicking.
“The PNP as a whole is a non-partisan organization with no engagement or interest in any political concerns concerning our poll bets,” said PNP-ACG spokesperson Lt. Michelle Sabino in a statement late Sunday.
The Kabataan Party-list had previously criticized the Department of Justice and the ACG for being linked to an alleged assassination plot on the video-sharing app TikTok.
“When we get reports or complaints, we evaluate and validate them to ensure their correctness and truthfulness. We collect evidence and facts, and if necessary, we file relevant complaints in the appropriate courts. Such is always the case,” Sabino stated.
Sabino further noted that when they mentioned that the TikTok account “ljluna7” was following the party-list group, they were simply stating the facts and not implying that the group was participating in the scheme.
The account under the name “ljluna7” had been deleted, but digital forensic experts were able to capture the account’s electronic trace, which will serve as evidence of the crime committed, according to PNP-ACG chief Brig. Gen. Robert Rodriguez.
The account linked to the alleged assassination plot against Marcos had previously been permanently suspended from TikTok.
Meanwhile, PNP chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos announced on Monday that the user of the TikTok account allegedly implicated in Marcos’ murder plot had been discovered.
“Yung gumamit ng TikTok account po yung identified na po (The user of the TikTok account has already been identified),” he added.
Carlos also stated that an inquiry into the suspect’s “digital trail” is currently underway in order to uncover the suspect’s true identity.
The PNP chief stated that charges will be brought against the suspect after the inquiry identifies the user.
After that, an arrest order will be issued, and tracker teams will be dispatched to apprehend this individual, according to Carlos.
“So tuloy naman yung trabaho ng (PNP) ACG hanggang sa (till) identification and possible filing of cases based on the evidence obtained),” he continued.
