The government will ensure that vaccine donations have long expiration dates.
To avoid wastage, the government is taking precautions to only accept Covid-19 vaccine donations that are still in good condition.
Acting Presidential spokesperson Karlo Nograles, Cabinet Secretary, said the government had already established limitations and criteria for accepting donations.
According to Nograles, the government is cooperating with producers on expiration dates, citing National Task Force chief Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr.
“Iyong pakikipag-ugnayan din sa mga donations na dapat maglagay din po tayo,” he said in a radio interview on Sunday. “Pag dino-donate sa atin, dapat we have to emphasize na iyong idu-donate huwag iyong near expiry (Another thing Sec. Charlie said is that they are coordinating with donors to donate vaccine
“Bagama’t nagpapasalamat tayo sa lahat ng mga nagdu-donate ‘no, but the reality on the ground is that we don’t want masyadong sobrang dami ng supply na palapit na iyong expiration,” she said. Iyong pressure mapupunta sa atin (As grateful as we are to those who donate, the reality on the ground is that we do not want to have too many supplies that are about to expire.) That will put further strain on us),” he added.
Covid-19 vaccines’ shelf life may be extended, however, Nograles cautioned that this is not achievable for all brands.
“Nagsalita na si Secretary Charlie Galvez at iyong mga miyembro ng vaccine cluster na there are some vaccinations na bagama’t sinasabi ang expiry date ay ganito based doon sa pag-assess nila with the manufacturer and based sa mga experts ay magagamit pa rin naman po,” said Galvez. At mayroon tayong papeles at dokumento na nagsasabi na may permiso naman po na puwedeng gamitin iyan And we have paperwork stating that we are still allowed to use them),” he added.
He did make sure that the Covid-19 vaccinations were used completely before they ran out.
“Ginagawa natin ang lahat ng mayroon tayong supply, first in, first out iyan para hindi tumama doon sa expiration date,” says the narrator. Of course, we’re quite conscientious about the expiration date, and we’re doing everything we can to make sure that they’re used up before the deadline. Of course, those with shorter expiration dates are used up first),” he noted.
A total of 37,353,438 Filipinos had received their Covid-19 vaccinations as of December 2, with 432,901 booster or extra doses delivered.
To accomplish population protection, the Philippines plans to vaccinate at least 54 million Filipinos by the end of this year.
