S-PaSS is no longer required for visitors in Ilocos Sur.

The ordinance forcing travelers to use the Safe, Swift, and Smart Passage (S-PaSS), a travel management system for simpler contact tracing purposes, has been postponed by the provincial administration of Ilocos Sur.

On Monday, Dr. Trina Tabboga-Talaga, medical director of the Ilocos Sur Provincial Hospital-Gabriela Silang, verified this as part of a plan to streamline and ease travel processes for fully vaccinated people.

“As of now, there are no S-PaSS or Ilocos Sur.” A Vax card and ID are required. Fully vaccinated po tayo. Salamat (There will be no S-PaSS in Ilocos Sur as of today.) “The completely vaccinated just require vaccination and identification cards,” Tabboga-Talaga added in an alert.

With the number of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in the province steadily decreasing, the provincial administration has begun to relax its travel regulations while encouraging those who are eligible to acquire their full dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Governor Ryan Singson has also ordered the elimination of Covid-19 testing and the 14-day required quarantine for fully vaccinated returning citizens as of December 1.

“This is how we encourage people to be vaccinated,” he explained.

Ilocos Sur had only one new Covid-19 case, one recovered case, and no new fatality as of Sunday.

So far, there have been 17,566 confirmed infections in the province, with 17,344 recoveries, 51 current cases, and 171 fatalities.
